Drunk Dialing.
September 27, 2008
An occasional occurence for me is the infamous drunk dial. Friends of mine know that if I’m drunk and people are texting/calling me for whatever reason, I get the brilliant idea to call people and tell them the truth.
Well, recently, it got a little out of hand.
First night: I admit, I had been drinking since 5 that day, so my BAC was probably at close to illegal, if not illegal for driving (in which my friend drove, thank goodness!). I promised my friend I would call him intoxicated (he enjoys laughing at my impairment), and as I go to do so, I get a text message from several people, one being a friend who I’ve had a bit of a crush on for a little bit. Feeling daring, I call, and tell him that I’m coming over for like 5 minutes (again, my friend is with me). So we show up at his doorstep, I kiss him and declare how much I like him. His response? “I figured”.
Major ouch, major blow to the ego, and pushing me one step further to declaring myself asexual.
The next day turned out to be embarrasing, awkward, and just a general bad day (for both reasons related and non-related to the prior night). After being held late after work, I headed to the bar, and downed two vodka and tonics (the same drink that got me in trouble the night before). Feeling down and out, I ended up sitting in a corner with a couple of guy friends who were trying to cheer me up (thanks guys, I love y’all!). I decided to leave early since I was feeling icky, and ended up getting a text message from a hot guy I met last weekend. Of course, being depressed and drinking along with it makes everything seem worse and well, I frankly hung up on him after he was unwilling to meet up with me anywhere (it was like 1 am, very understandable).
At this time, neither parties are responding to my apologies, or remotely talking to me.
So the moral of the story ladies: if you are a person notorious for drunk dialing, leave your phone with a friend so you don’t do such a thing. Request that they don’t give it back to you until you’ve sobered up enough to the point where you wont be too honest and make people feel awkward. Just DONT do it!!!
